According to the NPMA, which oversees inspection policy with the Department of Housing and Urban Development, CO2 found in a living space is not and cannot be considered visible evidence of live insects as listed in the inspection form unless the insects are visually observed after detection by the CO2 termite detector through further investigation.
If the CO2 Termite detector indicates active termites in an area during the inspection and no other visible evidence is available, it is appropriate to put this information in the comment section of the form only.
The CO2 Termite Detector is a valuable tool to help inspectors get a feel for critical areas and potential Termite infestations and should be used as a guide to locate areas that need further investigation.
